This year 2019 is the year Ghana’s president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo launched the Year of Return (YoF). It is to mark the 400th year since the first slave ship left the shores of Ghana into the lands of our colonial masters.
In this way a lot of Diasporians are already arriving in the country to trace their roots, relive the horrible days of slavery via visits to historic places and sites like the Elmina Castle, James town and the Usher Forts. In this regard, Bukom is no exception since it is the place where most economic activities took place during the dark days of slavery.
Ahead of the return of more Diasporians and the numerous activities lined up to mark this historic event, the Mpese Royal Family in partnership with Unlimited Vision Multimedia and other stake holders organized some clean up exercise to get rid of filth in Bukom ahead of the celebrations in Accra. According to their Leader. They have decided to clean the whole of Bukom and also use this moment to sensitize the community that cleanliness is indeed next to Godliness.
Present at the clean up exercise was Popular Boxer Bukom Banku, who recently won his first International fight against Rojhat Bilgetekin at the St George Hall in Bradford, UK. He shared his joy for this initiative taken by Mpese Royal Family, Unlimited Vision and all stake holders. The Chief of Sowutuom Nsunfa Traditional Area, His Royal Highness, Nii Osabu Akwei Ofoli Tibo I, was also present and joined in this exercise which lasted for 12 hours
The clean up went on successfully.
